Africatown Exhibit at the McCall Library
的 McCall Library invites you to view its new exhibit in conjunction with the English Department and the University-wide 常见的阅读, Barracoon by Zora Neale Hurston. 这 exhibit features some of the only existing images of Cudjo Lewis (born Oluale Kossola) and focuses on the unique cultural heritage of Africatown in Mobile, Alabama.
这个展览 is located in the McCall Library exhibit cases on the 3rd floor of the Marx Library, through March 2024.
的 University of 南 Alabama Archeology Museum showcases "Unwritten: 的 Archaeology & Oral History of Jim Crow Mobile." 这 exhibit is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. 这个展览 features families who lived in Africatown, near Davis Avenue, and Down the Bay. 的 exhibit ends in May 2024.
- 的 Archaeology Museum has also stocked copies of “Barracoon” in the Archaeology Museum Gift Shop and staff, faculty, students, and alumni receive a 10% discount.
